Sample License Plates
Many (but not all) United States states and Canadian provinces issue sample license plates that are identical in shape, color, and serial number design to that year's registration plates of the same type. Some states issue only passenger samples, others issue many types (truck, trailer, antique vehicle, etc.).
Samples are not used to register vehicles, but are issued for collectors and other plate enthusiasts.
