About Our Repainted Plates
Our site contains several repainted plates, which we prominently label so that you know they have been repainted before you purchase them.

We mark repainted plates two ways.  We simply label plate(s) as "Repainted" if they were repainted before we them got them.  We label plates "Repainted by TurnerPlates.com" if we repainted them ourselves so you can distinguish our repaints from others.

We repaint plates to use in registering Texas antique and classic vehicles.   Several years research, design, and experimentation were required to develop our process and equipment used.

The 1957 Arkansas plate above shows our process step-by-step.  We use several processes to prepare the metal base for refinishing (1,2).  Then we apply high quality automotive primer (3), followed by an automotive color coat (4).  Next, we heat-cure the painted base to the paint manufacturer's specifications.  After curing, we machine letter the plate (5) and heat-cure the finish again.  Finally, we package the plates in heavy 6-mil plastic sleeves with paper dividers to prevent scratches during storage and shipping.   The end result is a finish coat that is better than the original, which was low-bid industrial paint applied over unprimed galvanized sheet metal.

We are familiar with The Texas Department of Transportation's antique and classic vehicle registration requirements and guarantee that TXDOT will accept plates that we paint without question.

Repainted plate prices vary, depending on what the plate(s) originally cost us and the cost of time and material involved in refinishing them.  Some refinished plates, just as when they were originally manufactured, aren't absolutely perfect and may have imperfections that don't detract from the overall appearance.  We try to honestly describe defects that may not be readily visible in the photos.

You can buy our repainted plates with confidence since they carry the same 10-day money back guarantee as our other plates.

Sorry, but we can no longer restore plates for others.
